Schedule of Retreats and Training Costs

Due to liabilities, inefficiencies, and other difficulties associated with allowing visitors to support the Community via service on the farm, we have devised a donation schedule that will allow visitors to support the Community through sponsorship of local laborers, who as a rule are very appreciative when finding work.

For individuals coming for private training for between one and twenty one days, each hour with Sankara Saranam requires a donation to local workers of $160. This will pay for two days of full time work. While visitors are free to have no hours with Sankara on any given day, generally no more than two hours can be scheduled per single day.

For groups of eight coming for five-day retreats, the cost of each hour with Sankara Saranam is $80. This is the most efficient use of funds as the guests pay for only one hour per day but enjoy eight hours of classes and training, not to mention that the cost per hour is less, because the hours are grouped and become communal. Further, other visitors provide good company throughout the day, while solo visitors will have very little company (and extremely few distraction).

Group retreats will be announced months in advance. People interested in these programs can sign up at any time, and will be contacted before retreat dates are made public. We are planning on starting with one retreat per year. We will have two or more if groups of eight sign up.

For individuals coming for twenty-two or more days, each hour with Sankara costs $80. Zero to two hours per day is possible.

Ways to save on room and board, which we can provide only in limited capacities, include camping and/or preparing one’s own meals. For solo visitors staying for twenty-two days or longer, service to the farm through one’s own labor, as opposed to paying local workers, is possible since liabilities and inefficiencies are reduced with long- term participation in projects. An eight-hour day of service replaces the $80 donation to local labor so long as the routine of work and training is consistent.

Also, group discounts for seven or less people coming for over five days are possible, as training hours are more likely to be grouped together and be made communal.

In the past, free retreats associated with fundraising drives were offered in the past. We will always honor such commitments to those who take advantage of these offers. Please look for more in the future via our newsletter.

Checks can be made to The Pranayama Institute for tax purposes, and from there the funds will be disbursed to workers. Donations to the Institute are also possible through Paypal, money orders, and cash.

Shuttle from and to El Paso airport costs $160 for two round trips. This pays for gas and wear and tear. This fee is not tax deductible.

In addition to these costs, Mr. Saranam requires travel, room, and board expenses be paid for retreats occurring anywhere other than on Whirlwind Community property.
